Mesi

Mesi

It is a picturesque village with only a few inhabitants during the winter, situated halfway from Apollonas to Skado, hence the name (Mesi=halfway).

Main characteristic of the village is the perennial plane tree with its water spring, which according to the locals spurts the "Elixir of Youth". Visitors of Mesi can admire the Folklore Museum housed in the old elementary school, as well as the traditional olive mill.

In the area there are two caves, the Drakontospilio cave and the cave on the beach of Agios (St.) George, both famous for their beautiful stalactites and stalagmites as well as for their size. On the road from Mesi to Apollonas lies the steep mountain of Kalogeros, on the top of which there is a plateau with ancient and Byzantine castle structures.
