Aggidia

Aggidia

Within a small distance of Naxos Town lies the amphitheatrical village of Aggidia.Trademark of the village is the white church of St.Charalambos, gazing up from the valley the meadows and the blue Aegean beyond.

The locals here are mainly engaged to farming, agriculture and wine culture. Because of this, one can find very good local produced wine here. The route from the village Aggidia to Naxos Town, rewards even the most demanding visitor in terms of natural beauty and historical-archaeological finds.

Scattered Venetian towers, the old convent Frero, the ancient aqueduct of Lygdamis and many other monuments, suggest that the area was used as a summer residence for the nobles of the Naxos.
